Anatomy Class

The teacher in this Bulgarian classroom clearly wanted her/his students to fully know their surroundings and themselves. Anti-fascist partisan artwork was still on display well beyond the fall of communism from 1987, and about a decade later took on a state of suspended animation with the closure of this village school. This photo set is a companion to Gunner‘s video shot in 4K ultra high resolution.

With abandonment comes a kind of anarchic freedom. While much of the grandeur of the former socialist meeting house at Buzludzha, Bulgaria has been lost to decay, theft, recycling and vandalism, the views from the top of the tower remain, magnificent. A comparison between the pre-1989 and 2015 forms of Bulgaria’s largest idealogical monument, the former socialist meeting house at Buzludzha. Thanks to Jonathan Taylor and Nicola Miller, without whose help this video would not have been possible. Shot and edited in 1080p full HD by Gunner.

Enjoying the views after climbing a string of stepladders and navigating several operational areas leading to the top of the tower at the former socialist meeting house at Buzludzha, Bulgaria. Shot and edited in 4K ultra high definition by Gunner.

To The Sea of Love

It must have been ever so motivating, having finished a length of the stroke of one’s choice in this Soviet-era swimming pool in Bulgaria, to look up and see socialist imagery on a giant scale. Many personal bests were no doubt achieved in such an inspiring setting. Shot and edited in 4K ultra high definition by Gunner.
