Carbonisation – Rotowaro

The first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere this plant was constructed in the 1930’s to convert unusable coal. Closed in 1985 and now flooded with contaminated water from the site this location was a giant rusting playground for us and a perfect opportunity for Gunner to do some climbing. After a little hiking through the forest, suddenly we stumbled across these giant rusting metal structures.
