With the automation of lighthouses the job of lighthouse keeper and its associated chattels and residences soon became a thing of the past. Here we see the remaining lighthouse keepers’ houses at a lighthouse standing vigil near the entrance to Cook Strait.

This place looks very familiar. I remember climbing up a very very steep slope from the beach to get there a few years ago. Quite a beautiful spot.
My Grandfather and Grandmother were the Keeper’s here, this is their old house and thats my mum’s bedroom there. Out of it.
