Country GP & The Tribe

This film set was backdrop to a number of New Zealand film and television productions, including Country GP and The Tribe. Country GP was a 1980s New Zealand television drama series about a general practice doctor practicing in a rural central South Island town in the post-war years 1945 to 1950. It was pioneering in the casting of a Samoan in the title role. 66 episodes were shot over a year and a half. The Tribe was a science fiction drama television series shot for Channel 5 in the United Kingdom. It premiered in April 1999 and amassed 260 episodes. The Tribe is set in a post-apocalyptic city in which all adults have been killed as the result of an unknown virus. Its characters navigate the twin complexities of adolescence and anarchy.
